Rude Awakening | [Voice]
[[In the forest in the eastern outskirts of town, Sokka wakes up with a minor freakout. He certainly had not gone to bed wearing these clothes (honestly, who in the four nations even wore white?), not to mention that the clothes he had been wearing are right next to him. There is a major pain in his back that no amount of stretching would make go away. And lastly, when he reaches up to pull Boomerang out, it isn't there.
Somewhere in the back of his head, he certainly feels wings where his club and boomerang should have been instead, but the loss of Boomerang is definitely the most pressing detail of this awkward awakening for at least a full minute.
Thus begins a very frantic search of the surrounding area to find said boomerang, but all he finds of note is a rather peculiar book lying beneath his folded clothing. He reaches down to examine the book and as he opened it to the front, starts pressing a few buttons almost randomly.]]
[Voice]
[[There are a few seconds of pause as he investigates it, before the wings dawn upon him.]]
Wait... wings? Oh, ha ha, Aang! Okay, okay, I'm sorry for being jealous and making fun of you and Katara for flying around together on your little air glider thingy going swooooooooosh swooooooooooosh. Now will you please get over here and take these wi--
[[Sokka looks up and sees a bird perched in a tree overhead.]]
Oh you are so lucky that I don't have Boomerang with me, flying meat. Otherwise, you would be breakfast.
[[The sound of some bird can be heard over the journal.]]
Huh, it can talk. [[suddenly screaming]] IT CAN TALK! THE DEMON BIRD CAN TALK! Aaaaaaahhhhhhh--
[[The entry ends abruptly as Sokka accidentally hits the Post button as he closes the book and runs.]]

[Voice]
When he does talk, his voice is about an octave higher than normal.]]
I've... been... here... before?
Wait, wait, wait, no. I don't remember this place. I don't remember these wings. I don't remember these... demon birds. Look, one minute Zuko, you, Katara, and I are finding Zuko's mom, the next... I'm being chased by talking birds and being told I'm from the past. This isn't happening. This must be some kind of dream, right? I'M IN A DREAM! IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE!
[Voice]
[While Aang tries to work himself out of denial.]
[Voice]
Ouch!
[[There's a soft thud and some muffled sounds as the book is dropped to the ground.]]
That smarts. Nope, still here.
Okay, so this isn't a dream and I'm actually here. And I'm not crazy like Azula. But if I've been here before, how come I don't remember it? Then again... people I've never met do seem to know me...
Oh! Like the Dai Li! They made Joo Dee forget what happened to her! Are they here too?
[[Yes, Sokka, work this out. You've got a good head on your shoulders. You're almost there.]]
[Voice]
Nope! And I hope they don't show up here. In some ways, the Malnosso's kind of like them, but that's beside the point.
But you have been here before! This place is just tricky with memories. You just... didn't get your back yet, that's it! Do you have a beard right now?
[Voice]
Malnos-- wait, just never mind, I don't want to know right now.
A beard? Nope. Only time I had a beard would be when I dressed up as Wang Fire. [[And then obviously, in Mr. Fire's voice:]] Young man, do you know how long it took to grow this beard? One day you're going to have a beard of your own, and you're going to like it!
Actually a beard isn't a bad idea. I wonder if Suki would like it?
[Voice]
And, um, I can't remember if she liked it or not. You never shaved it, so I guess she must have.
[Voice]
Suki's here too though?
[[There's a fair bit of hope in his voice all of a sudden.]]
[Voice]
He goes into a sadder tone as he thinks of Suki. He misses her.]
S-sorry, but... Suki's not here. She got sent back home a little while after you did.
[Voice]
[[His first girlfriend turned into the moon. His second girlfriend got sent away by the Malnosso Nation. Regaining future memories kind of pales in comparison.
Don't worry, Aang. Sokka really is happy to see you though.]]
So who all is here from our... world? [[He says that dubiously, as if he's still not sure that it's all true.]] I know Katara, Zuko, and you are here.
[Voice]
They're here, and so's Toph and Iroh, and Ikki. And I guess that Varrick guy's from our world too, but I don't think any of us really know him... [He just kind of assumes that Sokka will remember who Ikki is. He's more concerned about how to break it to him that Katara's been mallynapped.]
[Voice]
Oh yeah, Iroh, I'd almost forgotten about him. He's already said hello. Haven't heard from Toph. Ikki? Who's Ikki?
[[Clearly Ikki isn't as awesome as future!Aang's beard.]]
[Voice]
[Voice]
[[Cough.]]
I mean, of course you have grandkids. Because if you didn't, there eventually wouldn't be any airbenders in the world. I don't know if I have grandkids, but of course you have grandkids.
[[Did he buy it? Did he buy it? Did he buy it?]]
[Voice]
[Voice]
[[Wait, Sokka, back out, back out! You're entering into oogy territory!!]]
[Voice]
[Voice]
[[Yes. Sokka is going to find her and ask her all the questions. Well, okay, the one burning question about him and Suki.]]
[Voice]
Of course! Ikki's a lot better than Aunt Wu. Because what she knows is history!
[Voice]
Well of course she would if she's your granddaughter. She'd know all about you and Katara!
How is my sister doing? She, uh, been here long?
[[Sokka finds it incredibly weird to be asking about people who he just saw yesterday.]]
[Voice]
She - she has been for a long time. [She's the only one left who's been here longer than Aang.] For really long. But she's... not around right now.
[Voice]
I see. It still doesn't make sense though; she was just with us the other day. But if I came from the future... okay, this is too complicated. I'm not even going to think about that right now.
Anyway, I imagine she'll get back sometime soon after Zuko comes.
[[Aang is lucky; he worded it just right. Sokka is thinking in terms of hours, not days. After all, someone did say that she was here!]]
[Voice]
Time does work really confusing here. [It's odd, how he still remembers that it was Sokka who tried explaining the time differences to him in the first place.] People can be here from any time, and time gets frozen at home while we're here.
[Voice]
Well, if I have to believe that I was already here [[in a spooky voice]] from the FUTURE, and that you met up with your granddaughter despite not looking any older than I remember you, and that Katara has been here for "a long time" despite that I just saw her yesterday, and that people from many different worlds are here, well... then I suppose all of that would have to make sense.
Of course it doesn't make any logical sense whatsoever, but yeah. I guess I've no choice but to drink that cactus juice.
[Voice]
Don't drink any more cactus juice! I mean... but you should believe all of that. [Aang is at least a little older than he was back in the Yu Dao incident.]
