[[In the forest in the eastern outskirts of town, Sokka wakes up with a minor freakout. He certainly had not gone to bed wearing these clothes (honestly, who in the four nations even wore white?), not to mention that the clothes he had been wearing are right next to him. There is a major pain in his back that no amount of stretching would make go away. And lastly, when he reaches up to pull Boomerang out, it isn't there.

Somewhere in the back of his head, he certainly feels wings where his club and boomerang should have been instead, but the loss of Boomerang is definitely the most pressing detail of this awkward awakening for at least a full minute.

Thus begins a very frantic search of the surrounding area to find said boomerang, but all he finds of note is a rather peculiar book lying beneath his folded clothing. He reaches down to examine the book and as he opened it to the front, starts pressing a few buttons almost randomly.]]

[Voice]

[[There are a few seconds of pause as he investigates it, before the wings dawn upon him.]]

Wait... wings? Oh, ha ha, Aang! Okay, okay, I'm sorry for being jealous and making fun of you and Katara for flying around together on your little air glider thingy going swooooooooosh swooooooooooosh. Now will you please get over here and take these wi--

[[Sokka looks up and sees a bird perched in a tree overhead.]]

Oh you are so lucky that I don't have Boomerang with me, flying meat. Otherwise, you would be breakfast.

[[The sound of some bird can be heard over the journal.]]

Huh, it can talk. [[suddenly screaming]] IT CAN TALK! THE DEMON BIRD CAN TALK! Aaaaaaahhhhhhh--

[[The entry ends abruptly as Sokka accidentally hits the Post button as he closes the book and runs.]]

I mean, of course you have grandkids. Because if you didn't, there eventually wouldn't be any airbenders in the world. I don't know if I have grandkids, but of course you have grandkids.

I don't know if you have grandkids either! [Try asking Bryke.] But I'm glad you understand, Sokka. That must be your memories starting to remember! My grandkids' are gonna be airbenders and everything!

Well, of course they're going to be airbenders! ... Well, unless one of them turned out to be a waterbender; at least that's how I'd guess it'd work.

[[Wait, Sokka, back out, back out! You're entering into oogy territory!!]]

Or- or a nonbender! But... no, all the grandkids I know about are airbenders! But my kids, it sounds like they're a different story. [He's taking this awfully well.]

Wow, sounds like Ikki is better than Aunt Wu could ever be. You have got to introduce me!

[[Yes. Sokka is going to find her and ask her all the questions. Well, okay, the one burning question about him and Suki.]]

[But Sokka canon hasn't confirmed the answer to that yet!!!]

Of course! Ikki's a lot better than Aunt Wu. Because what she knows is history!

[[You can tell that to Sokka's face. Or rather, Ikki can tell that to Sokka's face. BWAHAHA. (Hurry up with Korra season 3 please?)]]

Well of course she would if she's your granddaughter. She'd know all about you and Katara!

How is my sister doing? She, uh, been here long?

[[Sokka finds it incredibly weird to be asking about people who he just saw yesterday.]]

[His face falls as he considers that.]

She - she has been for a long time. [She's the only one left who's been here longer than Aang.] For really long. But she's... not around right now.

[[The full weight of exactly what that means will no doubt hit him when he talks to Zuko later; for now, he doesn't know about all the weird stuff going on here.]]

I see. It still doesn't make sense though; she was just with us the other day. But if I came from the future... okay, this is too complicated. I'm not even going to think about that right now.

Anyway, I imagine she'll get back sometime soon after Zuko comes.

[[Aang is lucky; he worded it just right. Sokka is thinking in terms of hours, not days. After all, someone did say that she was here!]]

It- it might not be that quick, but... I'm sure Zuko'll explain. [Surely Zuko can handle breaking bad news to someone, right?!]

Time does work really confusing here. [It's odd, how he still remembers that it was Sokka who tried explaining the time differences to him in the first place.] People can be here from any time, and time gets frozen at home while we're here.

[[Everyone's holding back secrets. First the secretive ninja girl who deferred responsibility to Team Avatar. Now Aang defers to Zuko. Sokka smells trouble, but he can't quite put his finger on it. He'll just have to ask Zuko; won't he be thrilled!]]

Well, if I have to believe that I was already here [[in a spooky voice]] from the FUTURE, and that you met up with your granddaughter despite not looking any older than I remember you, and that Katara has been here for "a long time" despite that I just saw her yesterday, and that people from many different worlds are here, well... then I suppose all of that would have to make sense.

Of course it doesn't make any logical sense whatsoever, but yeah. I guess I've no choice but to drink that cactus juice.

[Well, that's life. And really, Aang thinks that this is something that should be broken to him in person, so Zuko might as well tell him when hepicks him up.]

Don't drink any more cactus juice! I mean... but you should believe all of that. [Aang is at least a little older than he was back in the Yu Dao incident.]

[[Sokka wouldn't disagree. But that also doesn't mean that Sokka has to like it now. Sokka is all about throwing his Boomerang and having it too.]]

I wasn't-- [[Facepalm.]] Yeah, I get what you're saying though. I think I can make some strange sense of it.

That's a good step! A lot about this place is strange, after all. You'll get more used to it as time goes by!

Yeah. So long as I don't get eaten by a monster first.

Y-yeah. Well... no monsters to worry about here! At least not near the village. Soooo... that'll work out for you!

[[In a very sarcastic tone:]] Hooray, yippee. Look at me, I've won the consolation prize.

It's a great prize! And... there's lots of meat here?

Lots of meat?

[ Well, this world could now officially be worse. ]

Um... yeah! There's lots of all kinds of food in the village, and some of that's meat!

What do you mean that there are other foods beside meat?

Oh riiiiight. All the vegetables. Right, I forgot. I'll just leave all of that for you. As a personal favor.

That's really gracious of you, Sokka. Thanks! You know, there's other food groups too, and candy! [He goes to school now and that's what he has to show for it!]

Well, okay, strictly speaking, I guess there are a few foods that aren't meat that are pretty tasty.

I can't help it. Meat is delicious.

Wellll, as long as you get to eat and stay alive, that's the important part. [Even if Aang wishes everyone would just go vegetarian, it's not something he'd force on his friend.]
