[Coming to you live from the Avatar Studios in House 56, it's The Daily Show!  And here's your host, Sokka!

[Or really, it's just someone making a random entry into the ever-increasing list of journal entries.

[Sokka is in the common room of the house, and he's fiddling with a pen in his right hand, as if trying to find something to write, but maybe he's changed his mind and turned on the video switch instead.  He's dressed warmly (because it is winter), though it's not like he's bundled in furs and blankets because he is inside.]

So be honest here:  Is it just me, or is everyone out there completely bored out of their minds now that there's practically nothing to do in order to help our little commune fight against the oppressors that no longer exist.  Okay, I mean, sure, there is that whole ominous "conquer your fears" warning that we were given, but let's be real.  I've sooooo already got that thing already tackled, and so that leaves me with nothing really official to do except twiddle my thumbs, take up a few new hobbies that I've never really been interested in, and eternally wait to go home.

[Whether or not Sokka is actually being truthful about him having his own fears be tackled is... left as an secret except maybe to those who actually want to ask about it.]

So if you're not like me and are actually doing something with your lives, maybe you could educate the rest of us how you're actually marking days off the calendar?

And of course, if you want something made at the Smithy, you know where to find me.  Or us.  All of us Smithy folks.  I don't know why you'd need anything built these days, but hey, it gives me something to do to pass the time.

[Action]

[Sokka will stick around in House 56 for a little while to see if he gets any replies.  After all, it's not like it's summertime in Luceti any longer; it's much harder to write with mitten-clad fingers with snow falling everywhere.  After waiting for a little bit, he's going be venturing outside.  It may be cold, but he's Water Tribe.  He's not necessarily immune to the cold like he used to be, but he's at least not going to complain about it.  Okay, he's not going to complain too much about it.

[Sokka is going to make his usual rounds around the village with perhaps a few extra stops than he would normally make.  He'll first make a special stop by the Library to see if there's any book that catches his fancy.  He's normally not into books just for entertainment's sake, but maybe he'll find something good there to ease the passing of boring day after boring day while they're trapped in this world.  His next stop will be the Tea Shop because, let's face it, it is cold out, and it's a several minute walk from his house to the village square, so it'll be nice to have a hot beverage, especially for when he heads to "work."  Of course he'll swing by the Smithy as well to see if there's anything there to do besides work on his own personal projects.  He'll definitely make a little progress there, but likely as not he'll be heading off earlier than expected.  And that's when he's going to make a special trip over to Eleanor's House to check up on her.  The two of them haven't hung out all that often, but now seems as good a time as any.]

[Action]

[Ever since the event ended, Sokka has not been in the best of moods. The university shift has messed with his head in some pretty violent ways, and the current shift isn't treating him much better. While he certainly struggled with coping with university classes and the whole thought of being in school again (which, to be honest, there wasn't much of a school to be had i the Southern Water Tribe before the war ended), it's girl issues that have got him down... and namely the sneaking sense that somehow he's betrayed or jilted Suki, his girlfriend from back home who isn't here. All because, for some reason, the recent Shift made him fall head over heels (actually, that's an understatement) for Asami.

Not to mention the fact that he's seeing ghosts of Suki (and even Yue) practically everywhere in Luceti, there's no real safe haven. But the least safe haven is House 56... because everyone he knows—Asami included—are all there. And even if it wasn't his fault (a lot of people have been saying they've been acting weird), well... it certainly doesn't help that some of his dreams aren't of Suki.

So Sokka is spending A LOT of time not at home. For the most part, he will be at the Smithy, Seventh Heaven (no, he's not eating at home right now), the village square, or at the beach. If you run into him, you might notice he's not his usual loud extroverted self and definitely has three shades of guilt written across his face.]

[Action / Smithy / Locked to Leon and Jane Foster]

[One of the primary projects Sokka has been working on in his spare time is figuring out how Poké Balls work. He remembers quite well that Crystal broke one a long time ago, and thanks to Ash and Jane Foster, he's come up with a plan to try to actually create Poké Balls so that, maybe... just maybe... he can understand them enough to fix them. Not that he's told Crystal any of this, mind, but it's a project of passion for the time being trying to reverse engineer technology.

Granted, he's not gotten far yet. However, if someone were to invade upon the inner sanctums of the forge, one might find Sokka in the finishing touches of molding and assembling two metallic half-spheres together, complete with a clasp and a release button. It's not a functional ball by any means; though there's clearly an effort to try to somehow power it inside (there's some wires sticking out of it for good measure). There's also a couple of obviously failed attempts to create two perfect half-spheres. At least his latest creation resembles the real thing.]

[Action / House 56]

[Because Sokka is beating himself up on the inside, he's avoiding confronting the problem, and that means sneaking in and out of the house at a couple of odd hours. The door to his room is locked, and generally he isn't doing lunch or dinner at Avatar House like he usually does. Instead, there's a series of tied together sheets sticking out of his window during the daytime hours.

It's not that Sokka doesn't want to talk to anyone there. It's just that Sokka doesn't want to talk to anyone there. It's that Sokka would prefer to reason it out himself before confronting the situation, but honestly... given how tired he looks, given how little sleep he's been getting, maybe it's a good idea for a few good friends to actually talk with him. Were someone going to be mean and remove the makeshift ladder to his room, he's going to go up the slide and have to pick the lock to his room, and that's... going to take a small bit of time.]

[Text / Locked against Asami]

So hypothetically, let's say that someone has a girlfriend waiting for them back home. And that that girlfriend isn't here in Luceti. And hypothetically, let's also say that, well, maybe due to forces completely beyond your control, like maybe during a shift, that person happened to get into a rather... deep relationship with someone else.

So then (hypothetically mind!), is that considered cheating?

Even more so, is it considered cheating if that person is still having dreams about that new relationship? That they weren't responsible for?

Oh yeah, and this person is also seeing ghosts or spirits of both this current and his former girlfriends everywhere here. Wherever he goes. As he's going to work, as he's eating lunch, at the beach. When he wakes up they're in his bed. Sometimes it seems like they want him to follow them, but then they turn around a corner and disappear.

I'm going insane.

It's driving this person insane. Hypothetically.

[Good save, Sokka. I'm sure they're not going to figure it out.]

EDIT: [Action / House 56 (a day or two later) / locked to Asami]

[After doing a lot of thinking and a lot of talking, Sokka has at least come to a few decisions about where things were. He still didn't entirely know where he felt, and he especially didn't where Asami was after it was all said and done with, but he did know deep down that he had to resolve this whole thing with her, partially for his own sake (and also so that he didn't feel like he had to keep sneaking through the house to avoid awkward meet-ups).

And so finally, instead of climbing up through the window, he comes into the front door and... hoping that he's lucky to catch her at home, knocks on Asami's door. While during the shift he practically could come in uninvited, he wasn't going to do that here.]

Hey, Asami, you in?

[Accidental Video]

[Sokka and Zuko can be, with some amount of awkwardness, off in the forest surrounding the village. More specifically, the duo is found climbing the branches of a tree, surrounded by the greenery towards the top. The view from the journal is fairly shaky, and it’s not as if either of them are paying attention to the journal. Sokka can be heard screaming, and Zuko’s definitely panting for a small bit before they stop. Down below, the sound of a very angry grizzly bear can be heard.]

I thought you said bears were friendly!

BOSCO WAS!

The Earth King’s pet? That’s just one bear!

That’s the only bear I ever met! Have you seen another bear!?

[Soon, the tree starts shaking all around them, the leaves swaying unnaturally, clearly not merely caused by the wind. There are a few thuds from below along that are oddly timed to the shaking of the leaves.]

I’m too young to die!

We’re not going to die, Sokka!

Tell that to Growly McBigteeth!

… You named the bear?

Why not? If I’m going to die, then the bear that does me in deserves to have a name.

Let’s just focus on getting away from it!

Oh sure, leave it to the Idea Guy to come up with a plan.

[Action - Locked to House 56 -- Much later?]

[Long after they managed to make their escape, Zuko and Sokka drag their sorry carcasses back to the house.

However, the hunting trip wasn’t a complete loss! Zuko comes in carrying the sorry carcass of one very cute, very fluffy, and very dead bunny. Sokka looks as proud as he can be.]

(Cut for introspection) )

Hey, e-everyone. Sokka here. [Sokka checks the mental box in his head where he introduces himself. Because so many people didn't, and that annoyed him a little bit.]

So since I've come... back to Luceti, [That would never not sound weird to stay] I've felt like I've been a bit of a dead weight. Granted, Luceti is... well, it's really strange, I mean what with the wings... and the talking animals and the weird shifts and the ocean disappearing and everything else weird here, but you already know about that. I didn't though! I've had to learn... well, I guess, relearn everything from scratch again, so I guess that's not a complete excuse, but it still kind of is.

[Ugh. Public speaking is hard.]

What I'm trying to say is that I need a job here. I really want a job. To contribute. To help. My sister tells me that I used to help out in the smithy the last time I was here, and... I learned it before, so I could relearn it again, right? Besides, Master Piandao who taught me had me make my own sword with his guidance, so I have some experience with that.

Otherwise, Iiiii'm a warrior, so I can help teach others in several weapons. Though I am best with a boomerang. I'm also pretty good with hunting, science, planning out strategies, and [bragging just a little bit] I do tell the best jokes. Oh yeah, and I'm also a fast learner.

So... uh, if there's a place where you need an extra set of hands, let me know? Otherwise, I'll, uh, help out at the smithy maybe?

Oh yeah, before I forget, could someone could possibly direct me to where I could find Souji?

[Action - Village Square]

[With that settled, he's got two missions that he's ready to undertake. Perhaps it's not the wisest decision to tackle both because... well, how bad could it be, right? Right? Okay, Sokka would expect the worst, but he doesn't really care. It needs to be done.

Sokka heads to the main square, and he'll be wandering around a little bit and peeking his head into a couple places there—in part because he hopes he's going to be lucky and find Souji completely randomly (since he doesn't know exactly where he'd be)—but he will be making targeted stops at the Battle Dome, the library, and Mythoria Cafe, likely in that order. Feel free to run into him somewhere!

His specific missions though are to find Souji Okita and Helios Sprensonne however. Helios, he's got a good idea of where he might find him. Souji is the harder one to track down, but if he's nowhere to be found, Sokka isn't above attempting to summon him via the journal.]
theideaguy: (alarmed)
[[In the forest in the eastern outskirts of town, Sokka wakes up with a minor freakout.  He certainly had not gone to bed wearing these clothes (honestly, who in the four nations even wore white?), not to mention that the clothes he had been wearing are right next to him.  There is a major pain in his back that no amount of stretching would make go away.  And lastly, when he reaches up to pull Boomerang out, it isn't there.

Somewhere in the back of his head, he certainly feels wings where his club and boomerang should have been instead, but the loss of Boomerang is definitely the most pressing detail of this awkward awakening for at least a full minute.

Thus begins a very frantic search of the surrounding area to find said boomerang, but all he finds of note is a rather peculiar book lying beneath his folded clothing.  He reaches down to examine the book and as he opened it to the front, starts pressing a few buttons almost randomly.]]

[Voice]

[[There are a few seconds of pause as he investigates it, before the wings dawn upon him.]]

Wait... wings?  Oh, ha ha, Aang!  Okay, okay, I'm sorry for being jealous and making fun of you and Katara for flying around together on your little air glider thingy going swooooooooosh swooooooooooosh.  Now will you please get over here and take these wi--

[[Sokka looks up and sees a bird perched in a tree overhead.]]

Oh you are so lucky that I don't have Boomerang with me, flying meat.  Otherwise, you would be breakfast.

[[The sound of some bird can be heard over the journal.]]

Huh, it can talk.  [[suddenly screaming]]  IT CAN TALK!  THE DEMON BIRD CAN TALK!  Aaaaaaahhhhhhh--

[[The entry ends abruptly as Sokka accidentally hits the Post button as he closes the book and runs.]]
