[Sokka isn't always the sentimentalist, but as he listens attentively at her story, forcing himself to look at her as she tells him where she's come from and what this has done, it's practically a suckerpunch to the stomach. Because, even though it wasn't either of their faults, even though the time they had "dated" had been amazingly fun, suddenly he can't help but feel incredibly terrible and guilty because he was just like her previous boyfriend, and if there was one thing he didn't want to be, it was disloyal.

He leans back and rests his head against the wall, and he grimaces terribly at the realization. He kind of looks mortified because he, not only does he have to wrestle with betraying Suki, now he has to wrestle with betraying Asami too.]

I don't know if this will mean much, but believe me that the absolute last thing I would ever want to do is to make you feel like that jerk made you feel afterwards. No offense or anything. [You know, just in case she happened to take that as a condemnation of her choices in men or something like that.]

I try pretty hard not get into situations like, what's his face, Mako? After Suki and I started dating, this one other girl was... kinda forceful in liking me. [That's practically an understatement, and perhaps Sokka's hesitation will give an indication], but I couldn't let myself feel anything for her, even though Suki wasn't there. Granted, Ty Lee was working with the Azula and Fire Nation and was our enemy, but... never mind that.
