[Certainly Sokka is up to tinkering when Han comes. He's actually doing some of the last bits of assembly on what would appear to be a Poké Ball, should Han be familiar with them in any capacity. Sokka's got something similar to a jeweler's monocle as he looks does some delicate tweaking to the device with a small screwdriver. It's certainly not a mechanized device like Han would be familiar with, but it's still something that he's been working on for quite a while.
